The easiest way to achieve smooth, straight buttercream is now available in a variety of different shapes! 

These fun ganache/buttercream frames can be used as a guide to trim your cake to size, and then used to perfectly smooth your buttercream all the way around the cake. It even gives the perfect buttercream thickness! 

Instructions:
1. Use the frame as a guide to trim your cake to approximately 1 inch below the edge of the frame.
2. Cover the ganache frames with clingwrap (if the frame has detailed edges you can leave the edges free of clingwrap). 
3. Pipe or spread your icing onto both of the ganache frames. Sit your cake on top of one frame and place the other frame on top, icing side pressing onto the cake. 
4. Pipe your icing onto the sides of the cake, from the top of one ganache frame to the other.
5. Use a scraper to smooth your icing all the way around the cake. Add more buttercream where needed and continue smoothing until you are happy. Put your cake in the fridge to set.
6. Once the icing is set, carefully pull the clingwrap so the ganache frame pops off the cake. If you are placing your cake upright, do so before removing the frames, and attach your cake to your board with some more icing. 
7. Touch up any imperfections with more buttercream and decorate however you like!
